Direct Impact

World Urban Parks recognises that organisations and individuals sometimes wish to make a direct impact in shaping policy, creating outcomes on the ground, mentoring emerging organisations and leaders. World Urban Parks can develop a program that suits your needs and focus.

National Partners

World Urban Parks recognises that national organisations play a key role in advocating for the value of parks in cities. World Urban Parks will work with all national based bodies that are interested in “making a difference.” World Urban Parks with the World Parks Academy hosts a series of National Round-table during the year. Partners – Leadership with Impact

World Urban Parks Donors are a select dedicated group of who understand that Leadership is more than just being the Minister in a Government, a Civic Leader or just the CEO. They see the value in the broader Social Impact their work can achieve and value their contribution to the society. They support the implementation of the World Urban Parks Program through the provision of multi-year core funding. World Urban Parks Principal Donor

World Urban Parks is pleased to introduce The Government of South Australia, Department for Environment and Water as the inaugural principal donor of World Urban Parks. In October 2018, the Honourable David Speirs MP, Minister for Environment and Water, hosted the National Park City Foundation and key stakeholders from around the world in Adelaide to discuss the International National Park City Concept.

The Department for Environment and Water aims to help South Australians conserve, sustain and prosper.

In South Australia we have a unique system of natural resources management boards that work in partnership with us to fulfil our roles and deliver services across eight natural resource management regions. Through the boards we develop meaningful relationships with the community and increase our shared knowledge and understanding about natural resources. We encourage debate and share the decision-making and accountability for choices made.

Our work is guided by the commitments set out in State Natural Resources Management Plan, the regional natural resources management plans and by our Corporate Plan.

Our roles
To achieve our purpose we’ve adopted four complementary roles:

A facilitator of community involvement in and taking responsibility for the environment.
A steward of the state’s natural resources to enable sustainable development.
The custodian of public parks, gardens, heritage places and crown lands for public benefit and enjoyment, and for their intrinsic value.
An authority on the state’s environment and natural resources to help governments, businesses and individuals make good long-term decisions.
